8 Life Changing Ways to Simplify Your Life

It’s nice to make your life as easy as possible. Especially when you’re busy enough with school or a career. That’s why I have decided to share a few things that I have done to make my life a bit simpler. I hope that this post serves its purpose to help all of you who read it.

Keep your hands off of your phone

There’s a reason why this is at the top of the list.  Being on the phone does more harm than you think. If you haven’t seen the Social Dilemma on Netflix you should to fully understand the harm technology has on all of us. I’m not saying to ignore the calls and messages that you receive. What I’m trying to get to is to quit scrolling through social media and all the other unnecessary things we sometimes catch ourselves doing on our phones. Quit doing that all throughout the day. Instead set a time aside for that. For instance, check social media and do anything you need to do at least 30 minutes after you wake up for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Then a second time at night before you call it quits for the day. Just see how much that helps you. I promise you will be shocked at how much better you feel.

Invest in a planner & keep a to-do list.

My $20 planner and my notes app are my two best friends. My life would be a train wreck without the two. I have a memory like a goldfish. I have to write everything I have going on and things that I’m doing down. I can’t go about my day without a to do list. I must always have one. I go over it and write new things down before I begin my day. It’s called setting intentions. Having a picture of what your day will look like just like the planner kind of having a picture of what your next week or month will look like too.

Write in a journal

I also like to write my thoughts, how my day was, what I did. This is another way to clear the head. My journal has helped me to figure out and overcome things. It’s my way of talking things out instead of to a person sometimes.

Clean and organize your space 

My bed, more than not, has a part in determining my day. If my space is a mess I am a mess. It’s hard to find things and makes you feel sluggish. I hate the feeling of not having my life together. Have a home for every single thing that you own and be as much of minimalist as possible. Marie Kondo can provide you with tips on getting rid of things and The Home Edit can help you with the organizing. Both shows are on Netflix and they both have a book.

Don’t procrastinate 

Do things as you’re thinking of them. You’ve probably heard this a lot from your mother because I know I have and I think I have finally learned. I find much joy in crossing things off the to do list. Imagine if you did everything as soon as the task was made instead of having to constantly think about doing it. Those tasks build up and it’s certainly not pretty when that happens because then it is hard to do fun things since you have all this work to do. Do a little each day instead of everything at once day. Also tackle those little things and get those out of the way.

Live according to your priorities

Ask yourself why you’re doing certain things. If it’s not necessary for the life you want or the way you want to live then simply don’t do it at all. Instead spend your time doing something that will benefit. What are your biggest goals? What are your most important priorities? What about the things that are weighing you down or holding you back? Be clear on what you want your life to look like and where you want to go.

Wake up earlier

If you’re like me and get most things done in the morning time then wake up earlier if you can. It’s amazing all of what I can do in a single morning just by waking up when the sun comes up. It’s a much better day when I do that. It feels great to be ahead and be done by the end of the day.

Create a morning and evening routine

I can never stress enough how important routines are. This also goes along with having habits. I’m not strict with my routines but I still make sure I stick with the habits I’m used to doing daily. I will share my college routine when I have one.
